Academy Motorsport Confirms 2017 British GT Championship GT4 Entry With Nicoll-Jones And Moore (07.02.17)

Academy Motorsport has confirmed that it will contest the 2017 British GT Championship with its Aston Martin Vantage GT4 driven by Matt Nicoll-Jones and Will Moore. The team has also entered the GT4 European Series Northern Cup.

Will Moore first raced with Academy Motorsport in 2014 when he competed in the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup and the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge. He contested the 2015 British GT Championship with Academy Motorsport in the Aston Martin Vantage GT4. Last season, partnered with Ryan Ratcliffe, he drove the Optimum Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3 in the premier national GT championship.

Moore is delighted with the opportunity to rejoin the team within which he has already enjoyed considerable success.

“I’m really excited for the season ahead,” said Moore. “The British GT4 class has some strong competition in it this year which will make for some good, close racing.”

“I had a great season with Academy and the Aston in 2015,” he continued. ”When the opportunity came up to return and partner with Matt as my team-mate, I didn’t hesitate.”

Team boss Matt Nicoll-Jones is looking forward to the season ahead.

“It’s great for the team to be back racing again and we have a firm target of aiming for the title in both the British and European competitions,” said Nicoll-Jones. “I’ve personally missed the fun of going racing. It will be great to get back behind the wheel. Despite the weight disadvantage that a Silver-Silver graded pairing brings, I’m extremely confident that we can mount a title challenge in British GT.”

The first round of the 2017 British GT Championship opens at Oulton Park on April 15 – 17.
