Nijmegen, Holland-based Equipe Verschuur has announced that it will enter the 2018 British GT Championship with its McLaren 570S GT4 to be driven by Finlay Hutchison and Dan McKay.

The Dutch team joins Balfe Motorsport on the 2018 GT4 grid with a McLaren 570s, Shaun Balfe’s team having taken over the running of the Graham Johnson and Mike Robinson’s entry.

18 year-old Finlay Hutchison, who contested four rounds of the GT4 European Series Southern Cup with Equipe Verschuur in 2017, and who is entered for a second season in the McLaren 570S, is excited about his first full UK championship season.

“I’m really looking forward to racing in the UK as well as Europe this year.” said Hutchison. “It’s a great opportunity to be doing a double programme with all of the extra seat time it will give me. Dan has some good experience so it will be great to work with him. I’m sure we’ll be a strong pairing and we know Equipe Verschuur will deliver a competitive car.”

Dan McKay is equally positive about the prospect of racing with Hutchison and Equipe Verschuur, having already gained experience in the McLaren 570S GT4 in 2017 when he drove in the In2Racing entry at Brands Hatch alongside Will Goff.

“I can’t wait to get going with Finlay and Equipe Verschuur for this year’s racing,” said McKay. “I had a chance to sample a McLaren 570S GT4 last year and liked the overall feel of the car and could feel there was more potential; in there. With Finlay and Equipe Verschuur I feel we’ll be able to extract all of that to race right at the front of the increasingly competitive British GT4 Championship.”

The 2018 British GT Championship season opens at Oulton Park on March 31 – April 2.
