GT Marques To Campaign Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 In British GT Championship (25.02.19)

High Wycombe-based GT Marques has announced that it will contest the 2019 British GT Championship with its new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. The Pro-Am driver pairing of Chris Car and Dino Zamparelli will campaign the first Porsche to race in the British GT Championship since 2017.

Zamparelli is no stranger to the Stuttgart manufacturer and joins the British GT Championship grid after four seasons racing Porsches. For the past three seasons the Bristol-based driver has finished runner-up in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

Chris Car began his racing career in 2013 and has competed in the Radical SR1 Cup, the Radical Sprint Championship and the Ginetta GT4 Supercup. Car is looking forward to the challenges of the 2019 British GT Championship.

“I’m very excited to be competing in British GT 2019,” said Car. “I have long wished to take part in GT endurance racing and I think British GT is the best platform to do this in the UK. What has made this proposition so exciting, and convinced me to take this step, is to be teaming up with Dino and having him as a co-driver as his speed and success is second to none. Having Dino onboard in a Porsche GT4 is too good an opportunity to turn down. I will draw motivation fro Dino’s speed and commitment and hopefully be able to produce good results.”

After working together in 2018, Dino Zamparelli is excited to see watch Chris Car’s move up to the British GT Championship.

“I’m really excited to be entering into a new chapter in my career and moving into British GT in a Porsche Cayman with Chris,” said Zamparelli. “The championship is the premier GT racing category in the UK and always provides close racing. I’ve raced with GT Marques in the Carrera Cup and we’ve assembled a great crew for the British GT races.

“I know that my first job will be to help Chris be as fast as possible and I believe we will be right where we want to be when the first round of races arrive.”

The 2019 British GT Championship season opens at Oulton Park on April 20 -22 and is preceded by the free-to-enter media Day at Donington Park on March 5.
