Iron Lynx and PREMA launch LMP2 programme

Cesena, Italy-based Iron Lynx and PREMA Powerteam have announced the launch of an LMP2 project for 2022, which will see Iron Lynx supporting PREMA with its prototype entry into the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship.

Iron Lynx are no strangers to sportscar racing and are currently competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS, the Michelin Le Mans Cup and the Ferrari Challenge.

Founded 38 years ago by Angelo Rosin and Giorgio Piccolo, PREMA is regarded as the third force in Italian motorsport, sitting behind the Ferrari and Alpha Tauri Formula 1 teams.

In July 2021 Iron Lynx and PREMA announced that they would be joining forces under the control of the Swiss-based company DC Racing Solutions. An ORECA 07 is now being prepared at PREMA Powerteam in readiness for the 2022 season.

Iron Lynx Team Principal, Andrea Piccini, commented:

“Iron Lynx has achieved important results this season in GT endurance racing and PREMA is widely recognised as one of the best teams in single-seater racing. The expertise from both teams will create the perfect blend to compete at the highest level.”

PREMA Team Principal, Rene Rosin is looking forward to the new challenges.

“This is an incredibly exciting development for our team and will lead us into a highly motivating new dimension,” said Rene Rosin. “We are looking forward to collaborating with the Iron Lynx team to share best practice and knowledge, which we hope will be only the start of a successful future in endurance racing.”

Iron Lynx currently leads the Michelin Le Mans Cup GT3 category which next meets at Spa-Francorchamps on September 18.
