Nick Jones and Scott Malvern have announced that they will contest the 2017 British GT Championship in in their Team Parker Racing-run Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

Jones and Parker intended to run the full 2016 season in the Porsche but, due to delivery problems, were unable to get the car out until the Silverstone round. Even at that round the care was lacking the full ‘MR’ kit necessary for it to be fully competitive.

However for the new season the duo will have the car ready with the full MR kit from the first round at Oulton Park on April 15 – 17.

Nick Jones has high hopes for the 2017 season.

“We’re coming at it from a totally different standpoint from 2016, which was a very tough season for a variety of reason,” said Jones. “We were learning as we went, first with the Ginetta and then the Porsche which obviously wasn’t ready, even at Donington. But after working closely with Team Parker and doing plenty of testing, I feel like we’ve taken some big steps forwards.”

Scott Malvern believes that his driving partner’s progress will make the pairing very competitive this season.

“”All we can look at are the known factors and in that regard I’m excited to see how Nick stacks up against the other Ams,” said Malvern. “He’s come on leap and bounds since 2016 and is now much closer to my pace. This time last season he’d never been to a GT race, let alone what to expect from GT3 and GT4. Now he knows the championship and circuits and I also feel like we’ve really gelled with the team over the winter.”

The Team Parker Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport will be at the season-launching Media Day on Tuesday March 28. The event is free to enter and promises some interesting track-action in the, hopefully, spring sunshine.
