TF Sport Back In GT3 For British GT Season Finale. (28.10.20)

Redhill-based TF Sport, 2019 British GT GT3 and GT4 champions, has announced that it will enter an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 for the final round of the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship at Silverstone on November 7 – 8.

GT4 champion Tom Vanning will be joined by Italian driver Giacomo Petrobelli for the team’s first outing in the GT3 category this season.

Tom Canning had been due to contest the 2020 season alongside GT3 champion Graham Davidson before the pandemic caused the Aberdeen-based businessman to make the decision to focus on his commercial interests this year. Canning has had competitive experience in GT3 machinery this year after he and Ahmad Al Harthy drove the #97 Oman Racing by TF Sport Aston Martin to a podium finish at Spa in GT Open earlier this month.

18-year old Canning, a rising star of GT racing, is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel on British soil.

“I’m really excited to be back racing at the Silverstone 500 for my British GT return, this time in GT3,” said Canning. “Now I have completed my first race weekend with TF Sport in GT3 and won my first race in the class, I am very confident going into the weekend racing alongside Giacomo in the TF Sport-prepared Vantage!”

Petrobelli last raced in 2014 in the forerunner to GT World Challenge Europe, the Blancpain Endurance Series, where he primarily competed in Ferraris.

“Having been out of a racecar for a while, I am really looking forward to driving the Aston at the most prestigious race in the British GT calendar,” said Petrobelli. “I have known Tom Ferrier and TF Sport for a long time and I am confident the car will be well prepared and, together with Tom Canning, we will make a good pairing. I can’t wait!”

After the disappointment of not being able to defend the GT3 title in 2020, Team owner Tom Ferrier is looking forward to fielding an entry in the senior class at Silverstone.

“It’s great to be running a GT3 in British GT again and I’m excited to see how Giacomo fares against this year’s grid,” said Ferrier. “Tom did a superb job in Spa and I have no doubt that together they will be fighting for a podium finish.

The season finale of the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship at Silverstone on November 7 – 8 will be streamed live on the SRO YouTube channel ‘GT World’.
