Total 24 Hours Of Spa Postponed. (16.04.20)

SRO Motorsports Group, the series organiser of GT World Challenge and the Intercontinental GT Challenge, has announced the postponement of the 2020 Total 24 Hours of Spa, its blue riband event.

While some lockdown measures in Belgium are widely expected to be relaxed on May 3, the country’s National Security Council (NSC) announced on April 15 that no major sporting or cultural events will be permitted until September.

SRO Belgium said that it ‘fully respects the decision by the Belgian government’ and that the race will move to a revised date.

The postponement will mean that, if racing does get underway in 2020, all European and global motorsport series’ will face significant calendar congestion from September onwards. The announcement follows similar news earlier in the week when a revised date for the Circuit Paul Ricard 1000Km was given.

Currently the first round of the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS is scheduled for June 26 – 28 at Zandvoort.
