Kimbolton-based Track-Club has announced that it will enter a second season in the British GT Championship with Ben Barnicoat pairing with Adam Balon in the team’s McLaren 570S GT4.

21 year-old McLaren Academy Driver Barnicoat drove for Strakka Racing in the 2017 Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup, driving its McLaren 650S GT3 to 29th place in the standings. He also drove for K-Pax Racing in the Pirelli World Challenge, again  in a 650S GT3.

Adam Balon returns to Track-Club after driving alongside Adam Mackay in the 2017 Britsh GT Championship, finishing fourth in the class standings.

Barnicoat is looking forward to the season although admits he is not familiar with his new team-mate or the championship.

“This will be an interesting challenge as it’s my first British championship since karting in 2012 which is pretty surreal,” said Barnicoat. “I do know the majority of tracks on the calendar as I’ve done testing work in either GTs or single-seaters.  Ironically about the only track I dont know is Donington; even though it’s my local track all I’ve done these is one BMW race to get a license upgrade!”

“I don’t know too much about Adam or about British GT. I’ve been mates with Seb Morris since we were team-mates in single-seaters back in 2014 so I talk to him to see how he’s getting on and I know Will Tregurtha and Stuart Middleton too and saw what they did last year, but that’s about it.”

The 2018 British GT Championship opens at Oulton Park on March 31 – April 2 with the season-launching Media Day to be held at Donington Park on Thursday March 8
