Félix da Costa Joins Alpine from 2026 FIA WEC Season

Alpine Endurance Team has announced that António Félix da Costa will join the Bourges-based squad in readiness for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season. The 34-year-old Portuguese pilot will make his maiden run in the Alpine A424 Hypercar within the next seven days at the Le Mans Bugatti Circuit before taking part in the WEC Rookie Tests in Bahrain following the final round of the 2025 season.

Félix da Costa is no stranger to prototype racing, having driven for Jota Sport between 2019 and 2023. Félix da Costa, alongside teammates Roberto Gonzalez and Will Stevens, won the FIA WEC LMP2 drivers title in 2022 along with the class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans ahead of the team moving up to the Hypercar class with the Porsche 963 LM.

In 2023, the first year that Jota Sport ran as a privateer team in the senior category, Félix da Costa, Will Stevens and Yifei Ye finished 9th in the Hypercar drivers standings after a season which saw the #38 Hertz Team JOTA Porsche briefly lead the 24 Hours in the hands of Chinese pilot Ye.

With Alpine Endurance regular Mick Schumacher looking to move to an Indycar programme, the French team has brought in Félix da Costa to utilise his considerable prototype experience. The Alpine A424 made its WEC debut for the 2024 season which saw the team take its first podium finish at Fuji. A year later, Alpine Endurance stood on the top step when Paul-Loup Chatin, Ferdinand Habsburg and Charles Milesi brought the #35 car home for its first overall win. Alpine currently sits 13th and 14th in the 2025 FIA WEC drivers standings.

António Félix da Costa is very happy to be returning to the Hypercar class in FIA WEC.

“I am delighted to join Alpine Endurance Team,” he said. “Returning to the FIA World Endurance Championship was one of my main objectives and I am extremely pleased to do so with a manufacturer that has been redefining itself in a bold and ambitious way and now competing at the forefront of endurance racing. Alpine is a brand with a strong racing heritage and becoming part of such an impressive ecosystem is truly exciting.

“The team has been performing at a very high level, recently scored its maiden victory with the A424, making this the perfect moment to begin our collaboration. Everyone knows my passion for endurance racing. I have worked extremely hard to develop as a complete driver in this discipline and after winning the LMP2 title, my goal is now to contribute to Alpine’s success at the pinnacle. I look forward to working with the team, my teammates and all the engineers and mechanics.”

Nicholas Lapierre, Sporting Director Alpine Endurance Team, is keen to get Félix da Costa integrated into the team as soon as possible.

“We are very pleased to welcome Antonio Felix da Costa to Alpine Endurance Team,” he said. “Antonio’s profile is exactly what we were looking for: speed, experience and a thorough knowledge of endurance racing and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. His track record in multiple categories speaks for itself and we know he will bring a lot to the team, both in sporting terms and on a personal level. He is a complete, determined and charismatic driver who will quickly integrate into our structure.

“We are eager to embark on this new adventure and start working together to make Alpine an ever-stronger force at the forefront of the FIA WEC.”
