Chati and Jamiet Complete Genesis Magma Hypercar Line-Up

Paul-Loup Chatin and Mathieu Jaminet have been signed to join the driver line-up for the 2026 Genesis Magma Racing Hypercar programme.

Chatin and Jaminet will join André Lotterer, Pipo Derani, Dani Juncadella and Mathys Jaubert in a driver roster that features three-time W Series champion Jamie Chadwick as reserve driver.

Paul-Loup Chaton: From Karts to Hypercar Victory at Fuji

34-year-old Paul-Loup Chatin began his racing career in karts before moving up to single-seaters in 2010 with the F4 Eurocup 1.6 series. He graduated to the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 series in 2011 with Tech 1 and competed for two seasons with the Toulouse-based squad before making his endurance racing debut in the European Le Mans Series.

Chatin joined the Signatech Alpine squad for the 2014 ELMS season, driving alongside Nelson Panciatici and Oliver Webb. The trio finished third in the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Chatin competed in the ELMS for six seasons with IDEC Sport during which the squad won the LMP2 Teams Championship in 2019.

Chatin’s Alpine Years and 2025 Breakthrough

Ahead of the 2024 season, Chatin joined the Alpine Endurance Team to compete in the Hypercar category in the #35 Alpine A424. Over two seasons, the regular #35 driving trio of Chatin, Ferdinand Habsburg and Charles Milesi finished in the top ten in the Hypercar class on eight occasions, including a dramatic win at Fuji in 2025.

“I am truly honoured and proud to join the Genesis Magma Racing adventure in Hypercar,” said Paul-Loup Chatin. “First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who made this opportunity possible. After two enriching years with Alpine Endurance Team and the recent success in Fuji, I feel more ready than ever to take on this new challenge.”

Mathieu Jaminet: Porsche Factory Ace Heads to Genesis

31-year-old Mathieu Jaminet joined Porsche as a full factory driver at the start of the 2020 season and three years later was selected as one of the drivers for Porsche’s LMDh programme. For two seasons, the French pilot competed primarily in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar where he finished fourth in the GTP Drivers Championship in 2023 alongside Matt Campbell and second in 2024 with teammate Nick Tandy.

Jaminet’s IMSA Success and 2025 WEC Season

In 2025, Jaminet joined the Porsche Penske Motorsport WEC programme and finished 18th in the Hypercar Drivers Championship.

“I am very happy to be joining Genesis Magma Racing,” said Mathieu Jaminet. “This is the start of a new chapter, a new history for me. This team offers me that opportunity to go racing in the WEC and hopefully in the future also the IMSA series.

“I wanted to have a fresh start with new people to try and step up but also bring my experience to a new team and work to build something incredible for the future. Obviously, the road will be long with a new team but I’m really excited and looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

Abiteboul: “Far Exceeds Any Expectation”

For Genesis Magma Racing Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul, the appointments of Chatin and Jaminet mean that the new team can enter the 2026 FIA WEC season full of confidence.

“We have an amazing line-up for Genesis Magma Racing’s first year in the FIA World Endurance Championship,” he said. “The combination of drivers that we have secured far exceeds any expectation we had when we began the project. It is a huge mark of trust these race winners and champions have placed in our young team, Genesis and the broader Hyundai Motor Group. I am sure they will create huge motivation and a virtuous circle for the team that is coming together very nicely at our base in Signes.”

The 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship gets underway in Qatar on March, 28th.
