Peugeot Names Emmanuel Esnault as Hypercar Team Principal
December 11, 2025Emmanuel Esnault has been named as Team Principal of the Peugeot TotalEnergies Hypercar programme, replacing Technical Director Olivier Jansonnie who had recently been promoted to Head of Stellantis Motorsport.
Esnault has extensive in motorsport, having started his career with TWR Nismo in 1997. After eight years at Renault Sport Racing, during which he was appointed to the position Head of Sporting – Customer Racing and Rally, Esnault moved to McLaren Racing, concluding his seven-year tenure as Head of Track Support at McLaren Applied Technologies.
Following a four-year stint at Texys Group as Managing Director, Esnault recently served as racing director for Lamborghini and Iron Lynx’s LMDh programmes in the FIA WEC and IMSA.
“I am truly honoured to have the opportunity to join Team Peugeot TotalEnergies,” said Esnault. “This is a major and highly motivating project, with a manufacturer that is fully committed at the highest international level.
“I would like to especially thank Alain Favey, Jean-Marc Finot and Olivier Jansonnie for their vote of confidence. It is a great responsibility and it is up to us to be worthy of it and meet the brand’s objectives.
“I am fully aware of the responsibility of this role, as well as the rich racing heritage Peugeot carries in endurance,” he continued. “There is tremendous potential in this project and I am convinced that we have everything we need to do things right and progress together.”
Peugeot TotalEnergies has recently revealed its driver lineups for the 2026 FIA WEC season, with Nick Cassidy, Paul Di Resta, Loc Duval, Malthe Jakobsen, Théo Pourchaire and Stoffel Vandoorne announced as pilots.
