Academy Motorsport has announced that it will enter a pair of Aston Martin Vantage GT4s in the 2018 British Gt Championship, the first time Matt Nicol-Jones’ team has run two-car entry since 2015.
Three of the four drivers have been announced.
Jan Jonck, who drove the #42 Macmillan AMR Vantage GT4 partnered with William Phillips and who finished seventh in the GT4 drivers standings, will partner with 16-year-old Tom Wood. Wood finished fifth in the 2017 Ginetta Junior Championship.
The sister car will be driven by Matt Nicoll-Jones alongside a driver whose name is still be confirmed.
Nicoll-Jones is excited at the opportunities for the two-car Aston Martin campaign for the upcoming season.
“We were fairly consistent throughout 2017 but couldn’t always demonstrate what the car was truly capable of until the final rounds,” said Nicoll-Jones. “That’s laid the foundations for our expansion back up to two entries once again and I feel like everything’s now in place to have a really good run at both titles.”
The 2018 British GT Championship season opens at Oulton Park on March 31 – April 2 with the Media Day launch to be held this year at Donington on March 8.
