Balfe Motorsport To Enter Third McLaren For Silverstone And Donington (29.05.19)

Lincolnshire-based Balfe Motorsport has announced that it will enter a third McLaren, a 570S GT4, in the Silverstone 500 and the first of the British GT Championship’s two visits to Donington Park.

Currently the team has entries in both the GT3 class, with its #22 702S GT3 driven by Shaun Balfe and Rob Bell, and in the GT4 category with the sister #20 570S GT4 piloted by Graham Johnson and Michael O’Brien. Johnson and O’Brien currently lie second in the GT4 Pro-Am standings after a trio of class podium finishes, including a GT4 Pro-Am victory at Oulton Park.

Mia Flewitt and Stewart Proctor will pilot the third GT4 entry, both having enjoyed highly successful campaigns in the 2018 Pure McLaren GT4 Series. Flewitt was crowned champion of the inaugural series after enjoying a spectacular season, taking five overall victories over the 12-race championship and finishing off the overall podium on only two occasions. Proctor enjoyed two victories and a further four podium finishes to close the season as runner-up to his Balfe Motorsport teammate.

The duo’s 570S GT3 will be competing in a livery utilising the Vega Blue and Papaya Orange of the 2019 McLaren-Renault MCL34.

Track action for the Silverstone 500, Round Five of the 2019 British GT Championship, gets underway on Saturday June 8 at 09;30 with FP1 with the three-hour race beginning at 12:35 on Sunday June 9.
