Barnicoat Wins At Nürburgring To Lead E-Sport GT Series Pro Series. (17.05.20)

Ben Barnicoat, at the wheel of the #99 2 Seas Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3, took the win at the Nürburgring in Round Three of the Pro Series competition for the 2020 SRO E-Sport GT Series.

The 23-year-old British driver took the chequered flag just .07 seconds ahead of Louis Deletraz in the #12 GPX Racing Porsche 991 GT3 R.

Completing the podium positions was the #9 K-PAX Racing by SIRIO eSports Bentley Continental GT3, piloted by Andy Soucek, who finished 2.764 seconds behind the Porsche.

Deleatraz took the lead from pole-sitter Jordan Pepper at the start of first lap and held off the challenge from Barnicoat until Lap 26 when a possible error from the Swiss driver allowed the 2 Seas Motorsport McLaren pilot through for the lead. Deletraz fought back, however, and the 60-minutes concluded with a drag race to the finish line.

Barnicoat’s victory means that the McLaren driver now leads the inaugural E-Sport GT Series Pro championship by nine points, ahead of Luis Deletraz on 34 points.

The Pro Series grid assembles next at Barcelona on May 31 for the penultimate round, ahead of the season finale at a circuit to be determined by a public vote.
