Andrew Howard, team owner of Beechdean AMR and currently contesting the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup, will make a one-off Intelligent Money British GT Championship when he joins forces with Martin Plowman for the Silverstone 500.
The double British GT Champion is stepping in to replace Plowman’s regular teammate, and Director of Paddock Motorsport, Kelvin Fletcher as he and his wife prepare for the birth of their twins.
The 2022 Silverstone 500 will be Andrew Howard’s first appearance in machinery other than Aston Martin since 2007.
“My main programme is the GT World Challenge Europe this year with Beechdean AMR, but as we’re just doing the five races in the Endurance Cup and the gaps between those are quite large, this is a great way of keeping myself race-sharp, as the other five Beechdean AMR drivers are doing this year with their other programmes,” said Andre Howward.
“I have such an emotional tie with British GT – having won that title twice – that when the opportunity came along to jump back into a car, I couldn’t say no.
“Because of what Kelvin and Martin achieved with Beechdean AMER in 2019, Paddock Motorsport are a team I always keep an eye on when they’re racing, and with Kelvin unavailable at Silverstone it’s nice to keep that association going.”
The full entry list for the Silverstone 500, the blue riband event of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship calendar will be published later on Monday 2.
Track action at Silverstone for the British GT grid gets underway on Saturday May 7 with practice at 09:30 local time. The lights go out for the race at 11:30 on Sunday May 8.
