The British GT Championship has announced live coverage of the UK rounds of the 2017 season by Front Runner, the UK’s only free-to-air sports channel.
Coverage will start from the opening rounds at Oulton Park on April 17. Live coverage will also be offered from Rockingham and Snetterton before the championship’s blue riband event, the Silverstone 500, a three-hour race, on June 11.
Although coverage from Spa-Francorchamps is not part of the Front Runner deal, the two final rounds of the season, from Brands Hatch and Donington, will be shown live.
British GT Championship Manager Benjamin Franassovici is delighted that, for the first time in the 25-year history of the UK’s premier GT series, live coverage is being offered for all UK rounds.
“This is fantastic news for British GT and MINI challenge, their drivers and teams, who, together with Front Runner, now have a platform capable of reaching millions of new and existing fans,” said Franassovici. “It’s really exciting to be bucking the trend of motor racing, and sport in general, by offering live free-to-air coverage throughout our 25th anniversary season.”
Front Runner’s Ryan Scarratt said: “We’re delighted to be broadcasting live British GT and MINI Challenge coverage on Front Runner. I’m sure motorsport fans everywhere will be tuning in to watch all the action as it happens this season.”
