Circuit conditions deteriorated throughout FP2 for the opening round of the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship and with, ten minutes remaining, only a handful of cars were still circulating the 4.307 km Oulton Park circuit.
Yelmer Buurman put the #6 RAM Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the top of the overall time sheets with a 1:34.984 set at the half-way point of the 60-minute session. Second quickest was the #96 Optimum Motorsport Mclaren 720S G3 in which Ollie Wilkinson set a 1:35.310 in the car he shares with Lewis Proctor.
Just over two-hundredths of a second behind the #96 car was the #78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in which Sancy Mitchell set a 1:35.331 in the opening minutes of the session.
The #72 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini spent most of FP2 in the hands of Adam Balon after damage to the underside of the car incurred in FP1 had been repaired. Balon was seventh quickest with a 1:35.946.
Quickest of the GT4 category was the #23 Speedworks Motorsport Toyota GR Supra GT4 piloted by Sam Smelt and James Kell in which Smelt set a 1:43.802. HHC Motorsport were second quickest with a 1:1:44.081 in its #58 McLaren 570S GT4.
The four 10-minute qualifying sessions to set the grids for the two one-hour sprint races on Sunday August 2 get underway at 16:10 local time. The lights go out for the first race of the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship at 13:15 local time on Sunday August 2.
