Cairoli and Capietto join Reid at Iron Lynx to Complete 2024 ELMS LMP2 driver line-up

Iron Lynx has announced that Matteo Cairoli and Macéo Capietto will be joining Jonas Reid in the team’s LMP2 entry for the 2024 European le Mans Series.

Jonas Reid had been previously announced by the Emilia-Romagna-based team for their prototype joint-entry with Proton Competition.

Lamborghini factory driver Cairoli has extensive experience in GT machinery and 2024 will be the 27-year-old pilot’s first time in a prototype. Cairoli began his sportscar career in 2014 when he competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia with Antonelli Motorsport, winning the championship with six victories and four pole position starts. In 2021 Cairoli won the Nürburgring 24 Hrs alongside Michael Christensen and Kévin Estre in the #911 Mathey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Completing the crew for the team’s #9 LMP2 entry will be Macéo Capietto. Also making his sportscar debut, the 18-year-old French driver graduated from karts to cars in 2021 when he contested the Championnat de F4 FFSA Academy championship, finishing third in the standings. Capietto competed in the Formula Regional European Championship in 2023.

Iron Lynx Team Principal Andrea Piccini said; “We are very excited to welcome Macéo to the team. He is a very talented driver, and he is the perfect fit for our family. Despite being young, he has already proven himself in the junior single-seater ranks and showed his speed and skills testing with our GT3 during the winter.

“Completing our dynamic line-up is Matteo, who I am personally pleased to see given additional track time in prototypes in 2024 to gain valuable experience also for the LMDh programme. The two additions along with Jonas is set to form a strong line-up in ELMS this year.

“We have a fantastic and successful relationship with Proton Competition and I am looking forward greatly to continue it in 2024 and to do so with an LMP2 is a very exciting opportunity for all of us.”

The 2024 European Le Mans Series gets underway at Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona with the Official Tests on April 9 with the opening round at Barcelona on April 14.
