After recently announcing its graduation to the premier class in the 2017 British GT Championship, Yorkshire-based Century Motorsport confirmed its commitment to the GT4 class with a two-car assault this season.

Anna Walewska returns to the team, her third year in the British GT Championship, to join Mike Simpson in the Ginetta G55 GT4. Anna Walewska, partnered with Nathan Freke in 2016, finished 7th in the GT4 Drivers Championship and is excited to be back this year.

“It’s great to be back in British GT with Century Motorsport after our success last year,” said Walewska. “I am excited to race with Mike Simpson who has so much experience to bring to the team. Together we will be a fierce driver pairing and I can’t wait to see how the season unfolds.”

Mike Simpson has a long history with Ginetta and has already enjoyed a busy start to the season after racing with ARC Bratislava in the Asian Le Mans Series and in the Liqui-moly Bathurst 12 Hour with RA Motorsports.

“My Ginetta-driving career started in a GT4 back in 2009 and I am very excited to have the opportunity to rediscover my roots,” said Simpson. “Century Motorsport and The University of Bolton have a good record in British GT and with Anna about to start her third season in the championship, I firmly believe we will challenge for the Pro-Am title as well as the overall British GT4 title.”

Driving the second Century Motorsport GT4 entry will be Stephen Fresle and Jacob Mathiassen. Fresle and Mathiassen drove together in the 2016 Britcar Endurance Championship.

“I can’t believe it,” said Fresle. “A couple of weeks ago we were looking around for an endurance series to compete in and then BOOM, Nathan secured a British GT4 entry! Jacob wanted to continue the partnership and here we are on the best national GT grid in racing. It’s totally nuts.”

Jacob Mathiassen is equally delighted to be on the British GT grid in 2017.

“The GT4 category seems really strong with competitive teams on the grid,” said the 23-year-old Dane. “Therefore, it’s a perfect place for me to develop my career and I’m really looking to racing in Britain for another year.

The season-opening round of the 2017 British GT Championship takes place at Oulton Park on April 15 – 17.
