Clutton and Tillbrook return with new-look Enduro McLaren for 2023 British GT

Morgan Tillbrook and Marcus Clutton will return to the Intelligent Money British GT Championship with Enduro Motorsport, the team they jointly own, sporting a new livery on #77 McLaren 720S GT3 for the 2023 season.

Tillbrook and Clutton finished third in the 2022 GT3 drivers standings after a season that saw the duo on the top step of the podium twice – at Spa and Brands Hatch – as well as take two further podiums.

Tillbrook, who began his racing career in the 2019 Hankook 25 Hours Fun Cup, first entered the British GT Championship in 2021 and is now regarded as one of the fastest Am drivers in the series. The 40-year-old CEO of the Alpha Group is now looking for title success as he enters his third full season in the championship.

“We learned the ropes in 2021 and became genuine title contenders last year so this season there really is only one goal: to win the overall GT3 drivers’ title,” he said. “Marcus and I were certainly fast enough to do that last year but I don’t mind admitting we made too many mistakes as well. And history shows that it’s consistency rather than outright speed that often wins British GT championships.

“Ok, we went to Donington still in title contention, but circumstances weren’t ideal. Three non-scores were far too many, and this season looks even more competitive. But if we can score solidly every weekend and take our victory opportunities when they present themselves then we should be there or thereabouts when the Decider rolls around again.”

Marcus Clutton, director of Enduro Motorsport and day-to-day operational manager, is aware of the challenges his team faces in competing for title.

“You look at some of the entries and pairings that have been announced and think ‘ok, things have gone up another level this year’, but that also gives us something to aim at,” said Clutton. “The entry is littered with factory drivers whereas I run the team as well as race the car. But that’s never prevented Morgan and I from being competitive and there’s no reason to believe we won’t be this year, either. It actually serves as extra motivation for me.”

The team will also enter the GT4 category this year with details to be announced shortly.

The 2023 Intelligent Money British GT Championship gets underway at Oulton Park on April 8 & 10 with the pre-season Media Day taking place at Donington on March 14.
