Market Drayton-based ERC Sport has announced that it will enter the 2018 British GT Championship with a Mercedes-AMG GT3 to be driven by Yelmer Buurman and car owner Lee Mowle.
Mowle has moved from AMDTuning.com to the new team established by Keith Cheatham.
Dutchman Buurman has significant experience in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 having won the 2018 24H Dubai with the marque and Team Black Falcon.
Buurman is looking forward to tackling the premier national GT championship with ERC Sport and Lee Mowle.
“Only Rockingham will be new to me but it’s also a been a long time since I raced in the UK full-time – I was a teenager the last time that happened!,” said Buurman. “We have some testing scheduled at Portimao before the Media Day, and then at Oulton Park just before the opening round so there’s plenty pf time to work with Lee and the team before the season starts.”
Mowle, who finished joint tenth in the GT3 Drivers Stansdings in 2017 is also excited by the opportunities presented by the new season
“2017 became a bit frustrating for me because of two programmes and car issues that weren’t immediately obvious but with all that behind us I’m hopeful we can show what we’re really capable of,” said Mowle. “I’ve never been a trophy hunter and only want to race against the best in order to improve, and British GT provides exactly that this season.”
The 2018 British GT Championship opens at Oulton Park on March 31 – April 2.
