FIA and ACO Reach Agreement on Future of WEC

The FIA and the Automobile Club de l’Ouest have announced a deal for the FIA World Endurance Championship which will run from the end of 2027 for ten years.

Amid rumours of a non-alignment of objectives between the FIA and the ACO, the new agreement will see all regulatory processes overseen by FIA Working Groups, the FIA Endurance Commission and will require the final approval of the FIA World Motorsport Council.

The homologation process has also been streamlined with the FIA and ACO overseeing the homologation of all cars competing in the Hypercar class.

The agreement comes at a time which has seen interest in the FIA World Endurance Championship increase significantly. The FIA WEC’s trackside attendance has grown by 8% in 2026 with 44% of the attendees aged 34 or younger.

The 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season has two rounds remaining which will be contested at Barcelona and Monza.
