Series organisers SRO Motorsports Group has announced further changes to the 2020 GT World Challenge Asia calendar.
The season will now start on the weekend of September 12 – 13 at Sepang, Malaysia followed by the first of two rounds in China on the weekend of October 17 -18. A second Chinese round will take place on the weekend of October 31 – November 1 at an established venue yet to be confirmed.
The season will conclude, as previously scheduled, at Sepang on December 5 – 6.
SRO Motorsports Group explained that “scaling back to four events presents a more cost-effective approach to maintaining an 11-race calendar, eases logistical considerations and, most importantly, limits any risk associated with travelling.”
With SRO organising series across the globe, the calendar has been specifically designed to avoid clashes with rounds in the GT World Challenge Europe and America championships.
The GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS series, previously called Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia, regularly attracts grids of nearly 30, predominantly GT3, entries.
