Greg Caton’s Maidstone-based G-CAT Racing has announced that it will contest the full 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship season with its Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Caton and teammate Shamus Jennings will compete in the Am/Am category in GT3 after having made several outings in the 2019 British GT Championship. Caton and Jennings enjoyed their most successful weekend last year at the final round where the #33 G-CAT Racing Porsche finished eleventh overall. The duo scored 75 points in the Am category in total over the course of the season.
“I’m looking forward to our first full season in British GT,” said Shamus Jennings. “We both the championship’s endurance format, which provides something different to what we’ve been used to in the past. As an all-amateur crew we’re very realistic about the final result, but that’s not what we’re here for. British GT’s amateur environment is very competitive and provides a serious benchmark for us to aim at.”
Team owner Greg Caton is excited by the challenge of a full-season entry into the UK’s premier domestic GT championship.
“Yeah, we fully enjoyed our experience last year in the limited number of races we entered,” said Greg Caton. “I personally enjoyed the competitive atmosphere surrounding the championship, which pushed you harder to find the limit. As Shamus said, we’re here to have fun but also measure ourselves against some of the UK’s best amateur racers. A full-season entry gives us a better chance of doing just that on a more consistent basis.”
The 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship opens with its traditional Media Day, this year held at Snetterton on March 3.
The first round of the new season gets underway at Oulton Park on April 11 – 13.
