Genesis Magma Racing Promotes Jamie Chadwick to Reserve Driver
November 18, 2025Jamie Chadwick has been promoted to Reserve Driver for the Genesis Magma Racing GMR-001 Hypercar project and has already turned her first laps in the car that is scheduled to compete in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship.
Chadwick, who has just completed her first season of prototype racing in the European Le Mans Series, took the wheel of the GMR-001 at a three-day test held at Magny-Cours in early November where the 2026 LMDh WEC and IMSA machine took to a track that offered a variety of conditions.
After Lilou Wadoux, Jamie Chadwick is only the second female pilot to drive a Hypercar.
“My first laps in the GME-001 Hypercar were amazing,” said Jamie Chadwick. “It’s a really impressive car and so fast in a straight line. There’s lots of different systems available to you as a driver, tools that you can use to make a difference. Obviously, so much is changing and evolving with every test that the team does, but it’s just a super car to drive, but also just a great team to be part of.”
The full racing programme for the three-time W Series champion has yet to be announced but will continue alongside her reserve driver responsibilities.
“It’s hugely special to be involved in the development of the GMR-001 Hypercar,” she said. “It’s another progression in my career and one I’m really proud of. Becoming a Reserve Driver in Hypercar is one step closer to my ultimate goal. The opportunity to test and drive more is something I’m really looking forward to and a role that I’m going to try and relish and make the most of.”
Currently Genesis Magma Racing has announced four of its six drivers for its 2026 FIA WEC campaign. André Lotterer, Pipo Derani, Mathys Jaubert and Daniel Juncadella have been confirmed as part of the development team since the summer of 2025. Two drivers are still to be announced.
The 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship gets underway in Qatar on March the 28th.
