SRO Motorsports Group, the series organiser of GT World Challenge Powered by AWS, has announced that the 2020 GTWC America season will resume at VIRginia International Raceway on July 9 – 12.
The organisers have stated that ‘this event will be run under the appropriate guidelines set forth by national and international authorities’. This could mean that the meeting is run behind closed doors with strict distancing regulations for the teams. Further details are expected closer to the race weekend.
Following VIRginia International Raceway, the series will visit Sonoma Raceway, Road America, Watkins Glen International and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The 2020 season got underway at Circuit of the Americas in March at a weekend which saw a double victory for the #93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX piloted by Shelby Blackstock and Trent Hindman.
VIR will host the second weekend of GT World Challenge America competition which will run alongside the debut of the GT Sports Club America series. The new series will see current and former homologated GT3 cars compete against GT2 entrants.
