Racers Edge Motorsport has announced that Ashton Harrison and Mario Farnbacher will campaign its Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 in the 2022 Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS.
Harrison began her racing career in the MX-5 Cup in 2018, graduating to Lamborghini Super Trofeo the following year and finishing second in the 2019 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America – LB Cup. In 2021 Harrison finished second in the Super Trofeo North America – Am category. The Harrison Contracting-backed driver took an overall win in the 2021 GT Fanatec GT World Challenge America season finale at Indianapolis, piloting the #77 Compass Racing Acura alongside teammate Matt McMurry.
Graduate of the 2021 HPD Driver Academy, Aston Harrison is looking forward to the new season. “I’m thrilled to be back with my Racers Edge family for a full season and alongside my buddy Mario,” said Ashton Harrison. “I feel confident going into the season after having such great success with the HPD Driver Academy last year and at the Indy 8 Hour.
“None of this would’ve been possible without my sponsor Harrison Contracting Company (HCC) and Wayne Taylor Racing’s guidance. I’m so appreciative to have their support going into 2022.”
Teammate Mario Farnbacher has a decade’s worth of sportscar experience as he enters the 2022 season. The 29-year-old won the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship GTD class driving the Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX with teammate Matt McMurry.
“It’s pretty cool to work with Ashton, who I coached last year, and now race with her,” said Farnbacher. “It’s definitely cool to share the car with one of my students and see how much she’s developed as a driver. I’ve enjoyed being part of the HPD Driver Academy and this is definitely one of the things that make it special.”
The 2022 Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS gets underway at Sonoma Raceway on April 15 – 17.
