Redhill-based Oman Racing with TF Sport has announced its line-up for the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship.
TF Sport, riding high after winning both the GT3 and GT4 domestic titles in 2019 and taking three LM GTE Am victories so far in the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship, will field two Aston Martin Vantage V8 Vantage GT3s for the new season.
Both reigning GT3 champions, Graham Davidson and Jonny Adam, return to defend their titles…but in different cars.
Adam will be joined Ahmad Al Harthy in the #7 entry. Al Harthy reunites with TF Sport after a highly successful 2019 season which saw the 38-year-old win the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup alongside teammates Salih Yoluc and Charlie Eastwood. Jonny Adam, with four British GT titles to the Scots driver’s name, will be looking to make history with a fifth title, and his third straight, in 2020.
Jonny Adam’s teammate in 2019, and also reigning GT3 champion, Graham Davidson will drive alongside Tom Canning in the sister #7 Vantage. Canning won the British GT Championship GT4 title in 2019 alongside Ash Hand and was chosen to be part of the Aston Martin Racing Academy in November.
“We’re in a fortunate position to have four champions racing for us this year in British GT,” said TF Sport Director Tom Ferrier. “Three of them have proved themselves last year and it’s fantastic to see Tom Canning stepping with us.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome back Oman Racing to this British British championship. Ahmad knows the circuits well from his spell in the series in 2015 and has a great track record with Jonny.”
Ahmad Al Harthy is looking forward to returning to the British GT Championship.
“I’ve followed the championship closely since I left in 2015 and I really do hope it will be a great year for us,” said Al Harthy. “The circuits are challenging; they really helped me develop my race-craft in the past and the level of competition is so high. We know what it takes to be competitive and we know it will require a lot of hard work but we’re up for the challenge.”
“It’s going to be my second season with the amazing TF Sport and, together with Tom Canning, we enter the championship very much in the mindset that we’re in it to win it,” said 2019 GT3 champion Graham Davidson.
“I’ll be using all my knowledge that Jonny has passed on to me to try and beat him this year. It’s not often that defending champions get to race against each other in the same team!”
The 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship launches at Snetterton on March 3 with the season-opening Media Day. Competitive track action begins over the Easter weekend of April 11 – 13 at Oulton Park.
