Optimum Motorsport has announced that Ollie Wilkinson will drive alongside Lewis Proctor in its 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship GT3 Silver Cup entry.
The Wakefield-based team, winners of the GT3 drivers championship with Flick Haigh and Jonny Adam in 2018, will enter a McLaren 720S GT3 for reigning Silver Cup champion Wilkinson and fellow McLaren Academy driver Proctor, who drove for Tolman Motorsport in its McLaren 570S GT4 in 2019.
Ollie Wilkinson is looking forward to defending his title with Optimum Motorsport.
“I count myself lucky to be racing this season so to come back to British GT and defend the Silver Cup in our McLaren 720S GT3 is more than I could have hoped for, said Wilkinson. “Taking the title last year was brilliant and it will be good to come back with that experience under my belt, a new car new sponsor and new team-mate.”
“I’m very excited about stepping up,” said Lewis Proctor. “It will be my first time in a GT3! I have known the team for a long time, we go way back and obviously the British GT paddock is a small place. Shaun (Goff – Team Principal) has a good team and the boys ands girls at Optimum are very professional so I’m looking forward to going racing in August.”
The 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship gets underway at Oulton Park on August 1 – 2.
