SRO Motorsports Group, the series organiser of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS, has announced an increase in the prize structure for the 2021 season.
The overall prize fund will be up to €2.5m, an increase of over €500,000 from 2020.
Teams must enter for the full Fanatec GT Challenge Europe Powered by AWS season to be eligible for the maximum prize money, where eligible overall victors will win €20,000. Silver Cup and Pro-Am class winners will be also be awarded €20,000 while AM Cup class winners earn €10,000.
A change for 2021 means that teams contesting the full Endurance Cup schedule will also be eligible for prize money for finishing in the top three, €10,000 being awarded for a win.
A new initiative for the 2021 season is that teams competing in the esports races that will take place alongside the Fanatec GT Challenge Europe Powered by AWS rounds will also be offered prize money. The top-three finishers, both overall and in the Silver Cup class, will be awarded €6,000, €4,000 and €2,500 respectively.
The addition of Fanatec, suppliers of enthusiast-grade racing simulation hardware, built by sim racers for sim racers, “has played an important part in the expansion”, said SRO Motorsports Group.
The opening round of the 2021 season, takes place at Monza on April 16 – 18.
