Silverstone-based RAM Racing has announced that it will enter two Mercedes-AMG GT3s for the 2020 British GT Championship.
The two-car entry will consist of one car in the Pro-Am Cup and one in the Silver Cup.
The Pro-Am Cup entry will be driven by Ian Loggie and Mercedes factory driver Yelmer Buurman. The Silver Cup entry will see the driver pairing of Sam De Haan and Patrick Kujala.
2020 will be Ian Loggie’s second season with RAM Racing in the British GT Championship. In 2019 Loggie made the move from Team Parker Racing and the Bentley Continental GT3 to the Mercedes-AMG GT3. Loggie and Macleod won Round Five at Silverstone on the way to finishing fifth in the overall GT3 drivers standings.
Along with teammate Jonny Cocker, Sam De Haan enjoyed a spectacular season in 2019 and lost out on the overall drivers title by just 2.5 points piloting the #69 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracán GT3.
Yelmer Buurman last competed in the British GT Championship in 2018 when his teammate was Lee Mowle in the #116 ERC Sport Mercedes. Mowle and Burmaan went on to finish fourth in the overall standings.
RAM Racing Team Principal Dan Shufflebottom is looking forward to building on the team’s success from 2019.
“We’re delighted to be continuing in British GT in 2020,” said Shufflebottom. “Ian did a fantastic job in 2019 – I’d say he;s one of the quickest and most competent Am drivers on the grid – and it;s great that he’s continuing our race-winning programme with him.
“Yelmer has raced with RAM Racing in the past and will fit in well from the start, so we’re looking forward to ‘hitting the ground running’ in Pro-Am”
“We’rer also looking forward to welcoming Sam and Patrick,” continued Dan Shufflebottom. “It’ll be a step up for Sam from racing as an amateur but he’s a great racing driver who is up for the challenge and we’ll support along the way. he already has a great working relationship with Patrick, who is an exciting and promising Silver driver, so we have a really solid foundation to build on.”
The 2020 British GT Championship gets underway at Oulton Park on April 11 – 13.
