Sven Müller, who, until December 2020, was part of the Porsche factory driver squad, has announced that he will be joining Rick Ware Racing-Eurasia as part of the driver line-up for the team’s #51 Ligier LMP2 at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Previously the team had declared Mathieu Jaminet as the fourth driver alongside Cody Ware, Salih Yoluc and Austin Dillon.
The 2016 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup champion, who finished third in the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup drivers standings, announced on social media that, following a last-minute call, he was travelling to Daytona.
“Wow, super excited to make my LMP2 debut at Daytona,” said Sven Müller on Instagram. “It was a real last (minute) call but I’m super happy to join Rick Ware Racing / Eurasia Racing for my first ever prototype race.
“Looking forward to a new step in my career and have some fun and learn a lot for my new teammates.”
The #51 RWR – Eurasia Ligier finished eighth in the LMP2 class in the qualifying race on January 24.
The 2021 Rolex 24 at Daytona, the opening round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship takes place at Dayton International Speedway on January 30 – 31.
