Team Parker Racing posted the fastest two times in the first practice session for Round Nine of the 2017 British GT Championship.
Seb Morris, driving the #31 Bentley Continental GT3 he shares with Rick Parfitt, posted a 1:26.038, .172 seconds faster than the sister #7 Bentley in which Callum Macleod set a 1:26.210 early in an interrupted session.
The session began on a track that was still damp in places from early-morning rain. Tom Hibbert, driving the #19 Century Motorsport Ginetta G55 GT3, went off at Turn 8 after 15 minutes, bringing out a red flag which halted the hour-long session for 17 minutes. The off-track excursion caused significant damage to the #19 car and it retired to the garage for the remainder of FP1.
Third quickest in the GT3 field was the Drivers Standings-leading #33 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracán GT3 in which Phil Keen set a 1:26.238, just .028 seconds behind the #7 Bentley.
Mike Simpson, driving the #111 Century Motorsport Ginetta G55 GT4 he shares with Anna Walewska, set the pace in GT4 with a 1:33.846.
There was drama for the #100 McLaren 570S GT4 late in the session when Ciaran Haggerty went off at Paddock Hill Bend. Yellow flags covered the incident and the car did not appear to suffer significant damage.
FP2, a further 60-minute session, for the British GT grid takes place at 12:05.
