Team Rocket RJN, the GT motorsport team owned by Chris Buncombe and Jenson Button in partnership with Bob Neville’s RJN Motorsport, will be returning to the Intelligent Money British GT Championship for a full-season GT3 campaign.
Embarking on its third year in the premier domestic GT series, the team will field Simon Watts and James Kell in its McLaren 720S GT3 in a Silver-Am pairing .
Team Rocket RJN first entered the championship in 2020 in the GT3 category with James Baldwin and Michael O’Brien. The duo finished fourth in the overall standings.
For 2021, the team switched to the GT4 class and entered three McLaren 570S GT4s, two for McLaren Driver Development Programme pilots Michael Benyahia, Alain Valente, Katie Milner and Harry Hayek and a third for the pairing of James Kell and Jordan Collard.
For the 2022 season, Kell makes the move up to GT3 after finishing third in the GT4 drivers standings with Collard in 2021.
Simon Watts began his racing career in 2016 and, after racing historic machinery, moved to the MSVR Focus Cup Championship in 2019. Watts finished 12th in the Focus Cup Championship in 2021.
The 2022 Intelligent Money British GT Championship gets underway at Oulton Park on April 16 – 18.
