Toyota Gazoo Racing has unveiled its Intelligent Money British GT Championship GT4 driver line-up for 2022.
The Cheshire-based team has announced that Jack Mitchell will be joined by Tom Edgar to share the driving duties in its Toyota GR Supra GT4 .
Jack Mitchell first competed in the British GT Championship in 2016 when he drove with Generation AMR MacMillan Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 to 5th place in the GT4 standings. The 23-year-old won the GT4 class in 2018, driving the #43 Century Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 alongside Dean MacDonald. In 2020 Mitchell contested the GT3 class in the 2 Seas Motorsport McLaren 720S.
17-year-old Tom Edgar has many years experience in karts, stepping up to cars in 2020 in the Ginetta Junior Championship.
Toyota Gazoo Racing Team Principal Christian Dick is delighted to welcome Mitchell and Edgar to the team.
“We’re extremely excited about our new driver line-up in British GT this year and we believe Jack, Tom and the Toyota GR Supra GT4 will make for a very potent combination indeed,” said Christian Dick. “Both guys are clearly up-and-coming talents with a great deal of potential and their existing relationship means that there should be minimal time getting used to working together which, as we all know, is half the battle in GT racing.
“Jack in particular needs little introduction. I have no doubt that the knowledge he can bring from his previous experiences in the championship will be hugely beneficial as we seek to put together a consistent title challenge.”
Christian Dick is looking forward to following the progress of Tom Edgar.
“Tom has proven in his short career so far that he is a driver with a very bright future ahead of him,” he said. “Like Jack, he has a first-rate attitude and work ethic and is an absolute pleasure to have in the team. His first laps behind the wheel of the Supra were also extremely encouraging.
“I have very high hopes for the pair of them.”
The 2022 Intelligent Money British GT Championship gets underway at Oulton Park on April 16 – 18.
