Cheshire-based WPI Motorsport has announced that it will contest the 2019 British GT Championship in the GTC class with its new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. Drivers for the season will be Michael Igoe, making his debut in the championship, and Adam Wilcox, who returns to the British GT Championship after a six-year gap.

Igoe and Wilcox finished seventh in the 2018 Britcar Dunlop Endurance Championship Sprint Category.

“We’re really looking forward to the challenge posed by British GT,” said Michael Igoe. “We know we’re a new team and I’m a new driver to the championship but we enjoyed a strong 2018 in GT Cup and Britcar and we’ve put a lot of effort in over the winter to ensure the whole team is ready. We can’t wait to get going.”

“It’s great to be back racing in British GT after a few seasons away,” added Adam Wilcox. “I’m excited to be driving alongside Michael and starting this new journey with the WPI Motorsport team.”

The 2019 British GT season opens at Oulton Park on April 20 – 22.
