2 Seas Motorsport To Enter 2020 British GT Championship With McLaren. (25.02.20)

2 Seas Motorsport, established late in 2019, has announced that it will enter the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship with a pair of McLaren 720S GT3.

Driver pairings for its debut season will see Dean Macdonald partner with Angus Fender whilst the teammate for 2 Seas Motorsport co-owner Isa Al-Khalifa will be announced in due course.

2020 will be Dean Macdonald’s fourth season in the British GT Championship. In 2019, the Cowdenbeath resident finished third in the overall GT4 drivers standings after a season driving alongside Callum Pointon in the #57 HHC Motorsport McLaren 570S GT4.

Angus Fender made his debut in the British GT Championship in 2019, driving with Century Motorsport in a season that culminated in two podiums at the wheel of the team’s #9 BMW M6 GT3 he shared with Jack Mitchell.

20-year-old Al-Khalifa competed in the 2018-19 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East series and has previous experience in the Woking marque’s machinery, having driven in the 2019 Pure McLaren GT Series.

Al-Khalifa, who co-owns 2 Seas Motorsport with business partner Nick Cristofaro, is looking for his new team to be competitive from the first round.

“I am really proud to be now in a position to launch 2 Seas Motorsport, confirming the first of our exciting plans for this season, running with the McLaren 720S GT3 and with the entry into the Intelligent Money British GT Championship.,” said Al-Khalifa.

“”It is going to be a tough year and we are going in at a high level, as the grid is one of the strongest ever with world-class drivers and teams all the way down, but Dean, Angus and I are all fired up for the challenge.”

Business partner Nick Christofaro is confident that the team’s choice of the McLaren 720S GT3 is the right one.

“We monitored the performance of the 720s GT3 closely throughout 2019 during its debut season and it has proven itself a race-winner against some of the toughest opposition, including the race victory at the British GT season finale. It has also started the 2020 season strongly with a podium at the Bathurst 12 Hour so we enter the season full of confidence and looking to secure more silverware.”

2 Seas Motorsport will not be present at the Media Day season launch at Snetterton on March 3 as it will be focused on its own test programme.
