Barwell Confirms Drivers For Second GTWCE Entry

Barwell Motorsport has announced the driver line-up for its second entry for the 2022 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup entry.

The Leatherhead-based team will be competing for honours in the new Gold Cup class , featuring Bronze-Silver-Gold drivers.

The #77 Amstutz Produkte-liveried Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo will be driven by Lamborghini factory driver and 2020 Intelligent Money British GT champion Sandy Mitchell who will be joined by Alex MacDowall and, for the opening round, Rob Collard. Collard won the 2020 British GT title with Mitchell.

Alex MacDowall won the 2016 European Le Mans Series GTE class with Aston Martin Racing in 2016 and the 2020 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with Barwell Motorsport, driving alongside Frederik Schandorff and Patrick Kujala.

Adrian Amstutz will be will be joining the team for as many rounds as his business commitments allow. Amstutz has twice been Endurance Cup – Am champion, driving with Barwell Motorsport, including taking the class win at the 2018 Total 24 Hours of Spa.

For the 2022 running of the Total 24 Hours of Spa, the crew will be joined by Patrick Kujala, teammate of McDowall in their 2020 Silver Cup title-winning season.

“It’s amazing to have so many former Barwell champions lining up in one car!” said Barwell Motorsport Team Principal Mark Lemmer. “It’s certainly an exciting line-up for the new Gold Cup class and I’m sure we will be seeing all these guys returning to the podium again in the GT World Challenge Endurance series.”

The 2022 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS season gets underway at Imola on April 1 – 3.
