Century Motorsport adds second BMW M4 GT3 for British GT at Donington

Century Motorsport, who won the Silverstone 500, round three of the 2023 Intelligent Money British GT Championship, when its #91 BMW M4 GT3 driven by Darren Leung and Dan Harper took the chequered flag just 1.2 seconds ahead of the #78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan, has announced that it will add a second GT3 entry at Donington Park on May 27-28.

BTCC star Jake Hill will join Simon Watts to share the driving duties in Century’s second GT3 entry and the duo are now preparing for Jake Hill’s debut in GT3 machinery.

“I have raced with Simon in Historics for a few years now, and know how much he has developed, so am hugely excited to be pairing up with him, and very grateful to him for this opportunity,” said Hill. “I am also very excited to be joining Century Motorsport and to drive their awesome BMW M4 GT3 car that they continue to have so much success with, especially to be doing so with the BMW family that I am already very proud to be a part of in BTCC.”

Simon Watts, who drove the Team Rocket RJN McLaren 720S GT3 to 21st place in the 2022 British GT GT3 drivers standings, is looking forward to returning to the championship at Donington.

“I’ve loved driving together with Jake in the Peter Auto Series and Masters Historic over the past few seasons – it’s a really easy-going relationship, and I’m sure we will have a lot of fun, especially with Nathan and the crew at such a brilliant circuit,” said Watts. “It’s fiercely competitive and I know it will be really tough, but driving with Jake I’m sure he will get to grips with the car quickly, and we will progress together. I’m really looking forward to it!”

Nathan Freke is confident that the Hill / Watts driver pairing will be competitive in the team’s BMW M4 GT3.

“The 2023 BMW M4 GT3 is a superb car and, as Dan and Darren showed at Silverstone, it’s a very competitive proposition,” he said. “I’ve known Jake since I was racing in the Ginetta G50 series and he was in Ginetta Juniors way back in 2009, and he has gone on to become one of the real stars of the BTCC, especially since he joined WSR BMW last year.

“Jake has shown how adaptable he is in all kinds of cars including, of course, racing with Simon very successfully in various Historic series. Simon himself had some really strong races last season with RJN, so I’m really excited to have them onboard, and I’m sure they will work really well with Dan and Darren and the team.”

The Intelligent Money British GT Championship returns to Donington Park on May 27 – 28 for the two-hour round four. Tickets can be purchased here.
