Century Motorsport will be back down to one GT3 entry at the Donington Park round of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship on May 27 – 28. Nathan Freke’s squad had announced on May 17 that BTCC star Jake Hill would be joining regular historic racing driving partner Simon Watts to pilot a second BMW M4 GT3 with a further outing for the duo planned at the season finale of the British GT Championship in October. However, the entry of the #9 BMW has now been withdrawn.
The team announced on social media that ‘reasons beyond their control’ had led to the decision.
The statement read:
“Due to reasons beyond our control we have had to withdraw the second GT3 car #9 for the Donington race.
“We were really looking forward to welcome Simon and Jake to the team this weekend, so it’s disappointing to say the least, but we hope to return later this year with the pair.”
Century’s duo of Darren Leung and Dan Harper currently lead the GT3 drivers standings after taking victory at the Silverstone 500 on the Coronation weekend.
Track action for the Intelligent Money British GT Championship gets underway at Donington Park at 09.45 on Saturday May 27 with the first of two practice sessions with the lights going out for a two-hour contest at 13.00 on Sunday May 28.
