The #77 Enduro Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3 in the hands of Marcus Clutton in the car he shares with Morgan Tillbrook went quickest in the opening practice session for Round Three of the 2021 British GT Championship. Clutton lapped the 2.498 miles of Donington Park in 1:27.550, .238 seconds quicker than Yelmer Buurman in the #6 RAM Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Third quickest was the #63 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 in which Dennis Lind lapped in 1:28.004
The 60-minute session took place under a cloudy sky but the warm and dry track surface meant that teams could push from the start.
The session ran largely uninterrupted except for a brief red flag with 23 minutes remaining after James Kell in the #2 Team Rocket RJN McLaren 570S GT4 went off at the Old Hairpin. Practice resumed with 18 minutes on the clock with Kell’s #2 car returning to the pits with little sign of significant damage.
There was disappointment for the Balfe Motorsport crew when its #5 McLaren 720S GT3 had to return to the garage for work after Lewis Proctor had set a 1:29.298 over the course of his six laps.
Quickest of the GT4 entries was the #57 Century Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 which set a 1:35.751 in the hands of Will Burns with the #15 Toyota GAZOO Racing GR Supra GT4 piloted by John Ferguson and Scott McKenna second
The second 60-minute practise session gets underway at 12:10 before the four ten-minute qualifying sessions commence at 16:00. The green flag drops for the start of the two-hour race at 12:45 on Sunday July 11.
