After announcing that the Blue Oval was to return to the highest level of sportscar racing in 2027 in January, Ford has now revealed two further key components of its plan to enter the Hypercar category of the FIA World Endurance Championship in two years’ time.
Ford has chosen ORECA as its chassis partner and ORECA Group Founder and President Hugues de Chaunac joined Ford Motor Company President and CEO Jim Farley for the announcement at the Circuit de La Sarthe ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“To be able to partner with ORECA is a proud moment for Ford,” said Jim Farley. “We are coming back to Ler Mans to win, and we aren’t making a secret of that. On Sunday, it will be exactly 56 years since we last took the top step of the overall podium here. That is long enough. In 2027, we are coming with the same level of expectation, and we are entrusting ORECA to help us take on Ferrari and the other top-class teams as we did back in the 1960s.”
Hugues de Chaunac is delighted to be partnering with Ford for an assault on the 2027 FIA WEC Hypercar title.
“We are honoured that Ford has chosen ORECA to design the future FIA WEC Hypercar for its return to the top-tier of endurance racing,” said de Chaunac. “This strategic partnership is a key part of our ongoing commitment to the highest level of racing and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We are excited to channel all of our energy, expertise and enthusiasm into this ambitious project.”
