Garage 69 has announced that it will contest the Silverstone 500 round of the 2022 Intelligent Money British GT Championship with its McLaren 720S, to be driven by Alex West and Marvin Kirchhöfer.
West and Kirchhöfer competed in the Asian Le Mans Series together in 2022, finishing 7th in the GT drivers standings alongside teammate Frank Bird in the team’s #88 McLaren 720S GT3.
Alex West last competed in the Silverstone 500 in 2020 but, for teammate
Marvin Kirchhöfer, the three-hour race will be his British GT debut. The German pilot will be in action over the Bank Holiday weekend in the #38 JOTA McLaren at the Brands Hatch Sprint Cup rounds of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS.
Marvin Kirchhöfer is looking forward to his debut in the British GT Championship.
“I’m excited to join my friends at Garage 59 for this one-off race,” he said. “We have no championship to worry about so we can just go for it and give it our best shot/ I know Alex has been doing well in the McLaren 720S so I think we have every chance of a good result at Silverstone.”
With the Garage 59 entry ineligible to score points, the team will be focused on lifting the historic RAC Trophy which is awarded to the overall winners of the Silverstone 500.
Qualifying for the Silverstone 500, Round Three of the 2022 Intelligent Money British GT Championship, gets underway at 15:55 local time on Saturday May 7 with the lights going out for the three-hour race at 11:30 on Sunday May 8.
