Boroughbridge-based HHC Motorsport, GT Teams Champion in the 2017 British GT Championship, has announced its second GT4 entry for the 2020 season.
Patrik Matthiesen will join Jordan Collard in the team’s McLaren 570S GT4 when the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship gets underway at Oulton Park on August 1 – 2.
Jordan Collard finished fourth in the 2019 GT4 drivers standings, having piloted the #5 Tolman Motorsport McLaren with teammate Lewis Proctor. 2020 driving partner Patrik Matthiesen finished ninth in the 2019 GT4 standings, sharing the driving duties in the #75 Optimum Motorsport Aston Martin V8 Vantage with Mike Robinson.
Collard, who became a member of the McLaren Driver Academy, is looking forward to the start of the new season.
“I am really excited about the start of the British GT season,” said Collard. “I believe we have a great car run by a top team and I am sure that Patrik and I will make a really good pairing to be able to fight for the GT4 title. The McLaren is a car that I know well from last year and I am really pleased to be continuing my association with such an iconic brand, so with all the ingredients in place, I believe a successful season is ahead of us.”
Patrik Matthiesen, who is about to embark on his third British GT season and who previously raced for HHC Motorsport in 2018, is also excited about getting back on track again after the delay to the start of the season.
“It has been a long wait for the start of my racing season and I have altered my plans a little, but I cannot wait to be back on the grid of the British GT Championship,” said Matthiesen. “The category is always really competitive and I am sure that we will be at the front of GT4 as the McLaren has proved itself to be a great GT4 machine.
“Working with Jordan will be a boost as well as he knows the car really well from last season so I am sure that we will be fighting for wins. It is also great to be back with HHC who I raced for in 2018 so I am sure that together we will have a successful season.”
The 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship will be contested over six weekends and concludes with a season finale at Silverstone on November 7 – 8.
