JMW Motorsport has announced that it will enter the 2020 GT World Challenge Asia Powered by AWS series with a Pro-Am driving partnership featuring Andy Meyrick and Andrew Haryanto.

The duo will campaign a Bentley Continental GT3, the first time the Crewe-based marque has been seen in the Asian series since 2018.

Bentley will now be represented in all three GT World Challenge competitions with a total of five examples of the new-generation Continental GT3 in competition across America, Europe and Asia.

JMW Motorsport has a long history in sportscar racing and has been a regular competitor in the European Le Mans Series, the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Colchester, Essex-based team won the LM GTE Am category at Le Mans in 2017, the team’s Ferrari F488GTE driven by Robert Smith, Will Stevens and Dries Vanthoor.

42-year-old Indonesian Andrew Haryanto has been racing since 2013 and won the 2017 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East – Am category with GDL Racing. 2019 saw the Indonesian driver compete in the Audi R8 LMS Cup, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series, the Blancpain GT Series Asia and the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.

Ex-Bentley factory driver Andy Meyrick is relishing the opportunity to compete in Asia’s leading GT3 championship.

“When I first raced in sportscars back in 2009 I saw JMW Motorsport in the Le Mans Series paddock and always aspired to race for them,” said Meyrick. “Over the following 10 years I had a career that saw me race an LMP1 for Aston Martin at Le Mans, tackle the biggest endurance races in the US, compete as Bentley works driver at the highest level of GT3 racing and much, much more.

“It’s incredible that, after all of this, I’ll finally race with JMW Motorsport, who have gone on to achieve so much as a team.”

The 2020 GT World Challenge Asia series gets underway at Sepang on March 28 – 29.
