Lamborghini GT3 Junior Driver Mateo Llarena is set to take part in the manufacturer’s 2022 Young Driver Shootout at Portimão, Portugal with the chance to win a fully funded season in a GT3 Huracan Evo.
Lamborghini monitors 38 drivers between its Young Driver and GT3 Junior programmes with the goal of inviting the best to its Young Driver Shootout.
Llarena is one of only eight drivers so far to have received an invitation and Lamborghini Squadra Corsa Programme Supervisor Raffael Giammaria will be present throughout the Shootout to select the winner.
“its a great opportunity and an honour for me to be included on the list of junior drivers invited to the Shootout,” said Mateo Llarena. “I’ve been working very hard the last few months to prepare myself for this, not only physically but mentally so I can be sharp.
“I can’t wait to get behind the wheel in Portimão and try my best each lap.”
The 18-year-old pilot from Guatamala has contested two events in the 2022 IMSA Weathertech SportsCar Championship in the GTD class with T3 Motorsport America as well as selected outings in the Italian GT Endurance Championship with Imperiale Racing, both times in a Huracan GT3 Evo.
The 2022 Lamborghini Young Driver Shootout takes place at the conclusion of the Super Trofeo World Finals on November 7.
