Orange1 FFF Racing Team has announced that it will be contesting the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge representing Lamborghini.
The Chinese team, which took a clean sweep of overall titles in the 2019 Blancpain GT Series, will enter the #63 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, to be piloted by Team Principal Andrea Caldarelli, fellow Italian Marco Mapelli and regular endurance teammate Dennis Lind.
Team owner Fu Songyang is looking forward to the challenges ahead in the 2020 season.
“After the 2019 season, we are committed to take up another important challenge for this year,” said Fu Songyang. “Together with our partners Lamborghini Squadra Corsa and ORANGE1, the next step for our team is the biggest we could aim at, the Intercontinental GT Challenge. In a certain way, we already in Asia in 2018 and Europe in 2019 so 2020 could be the right opportunity to take everything under the same name.
“Choosing Andrea, Dennis and Marco was a natural option and the continuation of the project started last year. They are definitely the best drivers we could have for this new venture.”
Orange1 President Armando Donazzan is keen to see the team compete on a global platform at then start of a new decade.
“With great enthusiasm, determination and passion, this year we have decided to raise the bar once again, competing worldwide in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, as we believe we have all the credentials to live up, both technically, resources and the best drivers we could for this like Andrea, Marco and Dennis.”
The 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge gets underway with the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour on January 31 before visiting Belgium, Japan, the USA and South Africa.
