Sky Tempesta Racing Confirms Drivers For 2021. (01.04.21)

London-based Sky Tempesta racing, who finished the 2020 season as Pro-Am team champions in the overall GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS series as well as the Sprint Cup, has announced its drivers for the 2021 season.

Tempesta Racing director Chris Froggatt will be reunited with Edward Cheever III and Jonathan Hui to contest the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup while new teammate Giorgio Roda will join Froggatt for the Sprint Cup events.

For the blue riband event of the GT World Challenge Europe season, the Total 24 Hours of Spa, former F1 pilot Giancarlo Fisichella will share the driving duties in the #93 entry.

27-year-old Giorgio Roda finished the 2020 season as champion of the Italian GT Endurance Championship, having driven the #71 AF Corse Ferrari F488 GT3 to two victories with teammates Alessio Rovera and Antonio Fuocco.

Chris Froggatt is delighted at the success the team enjoyed in 2020 and is looking forward to the new season.

“Despite the delays and disruption to last season, the team did a fantastic job and we were thrilled to come away with the Pro-Am trophies,” said Froggatt. “This year is all about building on that momentum and defending our title – I can’t wait to get back out on track.

“Alongside our established endurance trio of Eddie Cheever, Jonathan Hui and myself. I’m looking forward to welcoming our new teammate Giorgio Roda. he has much experience of the 488 GT3 following last year’s Italian GT Championship and I think we will be a formidable duo fighting for the Pro-Am title.”

The 2021 Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS gets underway at Monza on April 16 – 18.
