Acorn Printing Services Sponsors Opening Weekend of the Student Motorsport Challenge

As the second of three generations of racers, Duncan Horlor understands the challenges of getting to the grid and skills required at all levels to run a successful race team. Duncan also understands why supporting the next generation of motorsport professionals is vitally important if teams across all grids are to have access to trained and experienced staff in the future. That is why his family-owned company, Acorn Printing Services Ltd, is sponsoring the Opening Weekend of the 2023 Student Motorsport Challenge season.

The Student Motorsport challenge, an inter-series within the BRSCC Nankang Tyres CityCar Cup, was launched in 2022. Founded and organised by John Paul ‘JP’ Latham, the SMo Challenge is designed to provide an affordable and sustainable project for schools, colleges and universities to embed into their courses by building and running their own car and team with support provided by Student Motorsport.

Duncan’s company, Acorn Printing Services, was established in 1985 and is a leading international supplier of customised clothing. They have a growing client base in both the academic and private sector, from small groups and clubs through to major promotional event work.

Acorn Printing Services has even produced T shirts for US President Bill Clinton’s team after a visit to the UK in 2000!

Duncan is an active racer himself and has competed in RGB Sports 1000, Monoposto and GT Cup before pausing his won racing to support his son, Max, on his own motorsport journey. Max has now twice won a national karting championship, winning the BKC lame Cadet Championship in 2021 and the Mini Max Championship in 2022.

After a six-year hiatus Duncan is returning to the racetrack in 2023 with an entry into the Student Motorsport Challenge with Barracksport. His company Acorn Printing Services is the SMo Challenge sponsor for the Opening Weekend at Snetterton.

“The Student Motorsport Challenge gives the team members valuable experience in real-life situations of what needs to happen when you go racing,” he said. “That can only stand them in good stead when they go forward in their careers in the motorsport industry. Acorn Printing Services is proud to sponsor the Opening Weekend and I’m looking forward to getting back up to the front of the grid after not racing for six years.”
